{"id":14727,"date":"2021-09-10T08:11:29","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T12:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsfintranet.org\/?page_id=14727"},"modified":"2025-12-05T07:23:29","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T12:23:29","slug":"seminar-guidelines-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rsfintranet.org\/?page_id=14727","title":{"rendered":"Seminar Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seminars are scheduled on Wednesday, 11:00am \u2013 12:30pm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seminars are hybrid <em>(Library\/ZOOM)<\/em> this academic year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The seminar coordinators are Katie Winograd and Galo Falchettore.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Katie will keep the seminar schedule and send out regular announcements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Galo can assist with presentation set-up and PowerPoint slides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All seminars are recorded for internal use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Speaker<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare a one-hour talk (11:00am \u2013 12:00pm), and the next half hour for questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The presentation can be about your research in progress or finished product.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate succinctly. The audience is interdisciplinary, so be mindful of this when presenting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the title of your presentation at least two weeks in advance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your moderator and explain if you want questions during or after your presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Moderator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Give a brief introduction of the speaker and coordinate all questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The introduction must include the speaker\u2019s present position, where\/what discipline they received their PhD, notable publications, and career achievements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep a list of participants who would like to ask questions and call them in turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bruce will introduce the Margaret Olivia Sage Scholars, Guest Speakers and the first speaker in our series.
