This Wednesday, May 2nd<\/sup> at 11 AM, please join me in welcoming guest speaker Cathy Cohen for her seminar, entitled \u201cWhat Counts as Political Knowledge: Race, Participation and the Carceral State.\u201d<\/p>\n Cathy J. Cohen is the David and Mary Winton Green Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago. Cohen is the author of two books: Democracy Remixed: Black Youth and the Future of American Politics<\/em> and The Boundaries of Blackness: AIDS and the Breakdown of Black Politics<\/em>, and she is co-editor with Kathleen Jones and Joan Tronto of Women Transforming Politics: An Alternative Reader<\/em>. Her work has been published in numerous journals and edited volumes including the American Political Science Review<\/em>, GLQ<\/em>, NOMOS<\/em>, and Social Text<\/em>.
