Please join us next Wednesday, February 20, for a\npresentation by Bradley Hardy entitled \u201cHistorical Segregation and Contemporary\nSocial Mobility.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Hardy is an Associate Professor of Public Administration\nand Policy at American University, where he has been since 2011. \n His research interests lie within labor economics, with an emphasis on\neconomic instability, intergenerational mobility, poverty policy, and\nsocio-economic outcomes. He was an Okun-Model Fellow in Economic Studies at\nBrookings (2016-17) and received the National Economic Association President\u2019s\nAward for Service (2015). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his fellowship this year, Dr. Hardy is working on a\nmonograph which investigates how historical racial segregation in different\nareas of the US has affected contemporary socioeconomic outcomes for racial\nminorities. Hardy is combining data on economic mobility from the\nEquality of Opportunity Project with new data on segregation between 1880 and\n1940 in order to analyze the extent to which long-term racial disparities in\nwealth, income and health outcomes have continued to shape intergeneration inequality\nover the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
