Please join us next Wednesday, 2\/27, for a presentation by\nRichard Benjamin entitled \u201cThe State of ‘Whiteness’: Race, Socio-Politics, and\nthe Next America\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Benjamin is a contributing\nwriter to the New Yorker. During his year at the Foundation, he is\nworking on a monograph, The White People Deadline:<\/em> Race, Status\nThreat, and Policy<\/em>, that investigates how racial divides and white decline\n(both real and perceived) shape national concerns. The issues he is\ninvestigating include intra-white conflict, gun control and the economic social\nsafety net. Specifically, he focuses on how social and legal\nregimes designed to disadvantage blacks and Latinos have backfired to harm\nsociety as a whole.
