Please join me next Wednesday, May 15, at 11:00 for a\nseminar by Lauren Rivera titled Scaling Down Inequality: Rating Scales, Gender\nBias, and the Architecture of Evaluation. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Rivera is Associate Professor of Management &\nOrganizations at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University as\nwell as Associate Professor of Sociology (by courtesy) at the Weinberg College\nof Arts & Sciences. She is an expert on workplace personnel\npractices, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has written\nextensively on hiring and promotion practices in elite professional service\nfirms. Her award-winning book Pedigree: How Elite Students Get Elite\nJobs<\/em> (Princeton University Press, 2015) investigates hiring decisions\nfor top-tier investment banks, consulting firms, and law firms. Her research\nhas been featured in the Atlantic<\/em>, Economist<\/em>, Financial\nTimes<\/em>, Fortune<\/em>, New York Times<\/em>, Wall Street\nJournal<\/em>, and NPR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In recognition for her work, Professor Rivera received the\nAmerican Sociological Association’s William Julius Wilson Early Career Award.\nShe has been named one of the top 40 business school professors under 40\nby Poets & Quants<\/em> and a rising management star by\nThinkers50.
