Duncan on<em> <\/em><em>Child\nPoverty: Next Steps for Research and Policy<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Duncan is Distinguished Professor at the School of Education,\nUniversity of California, Irvine.&nbsp; He has spent more than 30 years\ninvestigating the impact of poverty on children\u2019s development. Trained as an\neconomist, Duncan takes an interdisciplinary approach to exploring the complex\ndynamics of child and youth development, drawing on insights from the fields of\neconomics, psychology, sociology, neuroscience and epidemiology. While\naffiliated with the University of Michigan, Duncan played a major role for 25\nyears in the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID), one of the world\u2019s\nlongest-running and most influential studies of human development.&nbsp; He\nchaired the committee which recently produced the study report by the National\nAcademy of Sciences, <em>A Roadmap to Reducing Child Poverty. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Duncan received a PhD in economics from the University of\nMichigan. He was elected president of the Population Association of America for\n2008 and president of the Society for Research in Child Development for\n2009-2011. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001\nand to the National Academy of Sciences in 2010. In 2013, Duncan was awarded\nthe&nbsp;Klaus\nJ. Jacobs Research Prize for exceptional\nachievement in research and practice in the field of child and youth\ndevelopment.&nbsp; In 2014 he became\nthe&nbsp;Kenneth Boulding Fellow of the American Academy of Political and\nSocial Science.
