McCall is Presidential Professor of Sociology and Political Science at CUNY Graduate Center and Associate Director of the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality. Her previous appointments included a decade at Northwestern University (2006-2016) where she held a professorship in Sociology as well as a secondary appointment in Political Science. At Northwestern she was Director of Undergraduate Studies in Sociology from 2010-2015. McCall holds a PhD and MA in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin and a BA from Brown University in Computer Science and Economic Development. Among her many awards and honors, her first book, Complex Inequality: Gender, Class, and Race in the New Economy (Routledge, 2001), was a runner-up for the C. Wright Mills book award. She won the 2009 best article award from the Socio-Economic Review, where she’s a current advisory committee member. McCall has a long association with the Foundation\u2014it’s her return visit as a scholar and she serves as a mentor for the Pipeline program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year at RSF she is studying public opinion and media coverage on economic inequality and related policy preferences. Utilizing survey experiments, media content analysis, and new policy questions, she is investigating responses to class, racial, ethnic, and gender inequality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
