Please join us next Wednesday, October 8th<\/sup> at 11 in the library and on Zoom for a presentation by Visiting Scholar Francesc Ortega entitled “How to manage flood risk equitably?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ortega is the Dina Axelrad Perry Professor in Economics at Queens College, City University of New York, where he has been appointed since 2012. He holds a PhD in Economics from New York University, and a BA and MA in Economics from the Universitat de Barcelona. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

His research has been featured in Econofact, PBS, The Hill, The Washington Post<\/em> and the BBC. He is currently the Associate Editor of SERIEs-Journal of the Spanish Economic Association. Ortega is a Research Fellow of IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor and CReAM (Center for Research and Analysis of Migration.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At RSF Ortega is examining how recent reforms to the National Flood Insurance Program have impacted disadvantaged communities in flood-prone areas. He is also analyzing administrative data on flood insurance policies and the American Community Survey to evaluate additional reforms, such as extending insurance mandates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
