Please join us next Wednesday, February 18 at 11 in the library and on Zoom for a presentation by Guest Speaker Andrea Louise Campbell from MIT, “Race, Racism, and American Tax Attitudes.” Campbell will be discussing aspects of her latest book,\u00a0Taxation and Resentment: Race, Party and Class in American Tax Attitudes<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(Princeton University Press, 2025). <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Campbell is the Arthur and Ruth Sloan Professor of Political Science at MIT. Her research focuses on American politics, political behavior, public opinion, and political inequality, particularly investigating how these intersect with social welfare policy, health policy, and tax policy. Her fourth book,\u00a0Policy Feedback: How Policies Shape Politic<\/a>s<\/a><\/em>, was co-authored with Daniel B\u00e9land and R. Kent Weaver (Cambridge Elements in Public Policy, 2022)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bCampbell holds an AB degree from Harvard and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Recent awards include the Wildavsky Enduring Contribution Award (2021) for her first book,\u00a0How Policies Make Citizens<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(Princeton University Press, 2003), and the Excellence in Mentoring Award (2020), both from the American Political Science Association Public Policy section.\u200b In 2024 she was awarded MIT\u2019s MacVicar Fellowship for contributions to undergraduate education.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
