He concentrated in Afro-American Studies at Harvard University and studied Social Psychology at Stanford University before his first academic appointment at Pennsylvania State University. He is now Associate Professor of Psychology at UCLA. Based on his research on race, policing, and intersectional identity, Goff has worked as a consultant for police departments around the country. His work on equity issues in policing has led to formation of the Center for Policing Equity, of which he is co-founder and President.
