Speaker

  • Prepare a one-hour talk (11:00am – 12:00pm), and the next half hour for questions.
  • The presentation can be about your research in progress or finished product.
  • Communicate succinctly. The audience is interdisciplinary, so be mindful of this when presenting.
  • Submit the title of your presentation at least two weeks in advance.
  • Contact your moderator and explain if you want questions during or after your presentation.

Moderator

  • Give a brief introduction of the speaker and coordinate all questions.
  • The introduction must include the speaker’s present position, where/what discipline they received their PhD, notable publications, and career achievements.
  • Keep a list of participants who would like to ask questions and call them in turn.
  • Bruce will introduce the Margaret Olivia Sage Scholars, Guest Speakers and the first speaker in our series. Then, the first speaker will introduce the next one, and so on.

Audience

  • Seminars begin promptly at 11:00am.
  • Respect the speaker’s preference for questions.
  • ZOOM participants must mute their microphones during the talk, except when asking questions.
  • If attending the library, be mindful of others when using phones, laptops or other devices during the seminar.
