Seminar, Wednesday, Oct 17: Adam Waytz

Please join us on Wednesday, 10/17, at 11:00 in the library, for Adam Waytz’s seminar presentation entitled “Humans and Machines”.

Professor Waytz is an Associate Professor at the Kellogg School of Management & Organizations, Northwestern University, where he joined the faculty in 2015. His research explores the reasons we attribute or deny mental states to other entities, and the moral and ethical implications of these processes, utilizing methods from both social psychology and cognitive neuroscience.

His research has been published in leading journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Review. He has received the Theoretical Innovation Award from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology twice, in both 2008 and again in 2013. He was also the recipient of the SAGE Foundation Young Scholar Award, and the International Social Cognition Network’s Early Career Award.

Professor Waytz received his PhD in Psychology from the University of Chicago in 2009.
