Guest Speaker Seminar, September 24: Jane Waldfogel

Please join us for a Guest Seminar on Wednesday, September 24 at 11 in the library and on Zoom by acclaimed social economist Jane Waldfogel of Columbia University’s School of Social Work.

She will be discussing her new Russell Sage book, Child BenefitsBritain’s War on Poverty (Russell Sage, 2010) was a previous recent monograph.

Waldfogel is the Compton Foundation Centennial Professor for the Prevention of Children’s and Youth Problems at Columbia’s School of Social Work and Visiting Professor at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion at the London School of Economics. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She also has a BA from Radcliffe and an MA in Education from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Waldfogel’s primary academic focus has been on the impact of public policy on poverty, inequality, children and families.

Among her many honors, Waldfogel was elected as a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy in 2015. As well as authoring multiple RSF titles, she was a previous Russell Sage scholar (2013-14).
